In 36 Days, I’ll no longer be a student at the University of Georgia. As such, I plan to shift the focus of this little corner of the web to document my journey from undergrad to the real world. I already have a decent job lined up. This job, however, isn’t meant to be permanent.

What do I want to be? Not sure.

Goals for Year 1:

1. Save up enough money to buy a a car
2. Save up at least $20,000.30
3. Use this money to finance an epic job hunt/road trip

So, Windows Live has a nice new homepage that feels slightly like the ask.com reboot from a while back. It has current events twist though. Instead of just a random background for your search page, how about something tied to a current event? For instance, the Olympics are happening right now; so, you receive a lovely image of a tennis player on Live.com. It’s a nice change from the usual spartan design of both Google.com and Search.Yahoo.com; but, once you click “Search” all the uniqueness dissipates and you’re left looking at the usual Blue-Green results page.

I’m getting ready to embark on something exciting. It’s about to be my second year as a student at the University of Georgia.

This excitement that I’m feeling right now is far better than that of this time last year. About a year ago, I was afraid of meeting new people, etc. But, I know that I have a nice group of friends from last year along with a few cool people coming to UGA from my high school that I can hang out with.

On top of this, I have never been sure of my degree choice until the very end of last year. I was admitted to UGA in the University Studies program (read: lack-luster GPA + High SAT). Thus, I was viewed as a kind of provisional student–inferior to my peers in some way.

Well, about 1.5 months ago, I received the letter in the mail that told me I had been officially moved out of the University Studies program and into the Franklin College proper. I promptly emailed Mr. SPIA, Paul Welch, and asked him to please try and squeeze me into a POLS 2000. He pulled through and I am a Pre-PoliSci major in the gateway/weeding out class. Sure, the class is at 8 AM; but, I can totally do it. Though, I might try to buy this 8 pound bag of coffee to prepare.

All very exciting.

But wait–there’s more. I’m applying to various Work Study positions and I really hope I get one. That means money! To spend on things that aren’t food. (Oh yeah… still no meal plan this year )

Awesome Friends, Solid Major Plans, Possible Job… I’m in college and doing something to make my future life better.  So, why then do I still fee a bit put off by my surroundings?
